"Studio based course utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM) for the design of building projects with interdisciplinary teams”
Project Overview
Teams were given a basic model of an elementary school located in Pennsylvania. Along with basic background information and criteria about the building, a general Revit model was also given to each team. Each team of six consists of an Architecture Student, Landscape Architecture Student, and a student from each option of Architectural Engineering including Structural, Mechanical, Lighting/Electrical, and Construction Management. Teams were given the option of implementing BIM and IPD to develope the architecture of the given general model layout, or use BIM and IPD to develop a new building architecture. Teams were given the true site location for the building for existing conditions analysis, but this information was kept anonymous to others.
